The Feed East Penn Students Food Packing Program needs your help!
It has become more difficult for Second Harvest to supply us with protein sources for the 200 children we feed each week. We are reaching out to our membership for help in collecting cans of tuna fish. We will be collecting weekly until we have met the need.

If you can help please take a ride and drop off your tuna fish. We feed 200 people each and every week and with the continued protein (peanut butter, tuna, chicken, cereal, and milk) shortages at all food banks we know our Rotarians will step up and help. We order food from Second Harvest each month for the children. We have had a substantial contribution of monies from a lot of different sources and I thank each and every one of you for helping. To keep our monies available and still help all of these children throughout the summer we are going to need your help. We will continue to ask each and every week until either we have too much or Second Harvest has the supplies on hand we need.

Much like a river life can take us in twists and turns and even over some rapids throughout the journey. Some days you go with the flow and sometimes you steer the ship. It's the lessons you seek to learn along the way that make you who you are. Sue Wenner's adventurous spirit and intuitive nature have created some very interesting chapters in her life that she kindly shared with us at our last meeting.
Sue grew up in a hard working, music loving home in Schuylkill County where the winters were cold and if you wanted to be entertained you played outside. Her family owned a successful grocery store in her community that started out of her Grandmother's home and grew over the years, eventually selling to Laneco, allowing her Father to retire. Sue's first job was at the store and at a young age she wasn't afraid of some hard work; even helping when it came to packaging up butchered venison meat to sell to her neighbors. Perhaps Sue's Grandmother and Father's entrepreneurial courage runs in her blood because since then she hasn't been afraid to maneuver against the current to a new opportunity.
Sue graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Business Education and while she realized that teaching wasn't right for her she has taken that business know how into many other successful avenues and always knowing when it was a good time start a new chapter. She has extensive experience in Banking and Residential Construction, Real Estate even Retail and Food Service. (Sue owned a small coffee shop for a time and also owned Sneaks N Cleats for about 6 years) Today Sue's focus is on helping others achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle through her role as a nutritionist. After facing some health issues she saw the benefits of Holistic Healing and proper nutrition and decided to take the plunge into something totally new. She went to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and now helps people of all ages with their health and wellness goals through one on one coaching. She has clients that seek her help with all sorts of nutritional needs such as weight loss, high cholesterol and blood pressure, Chron's disease and Diabetes, and sleep issues. She accomplishes much of this work through her role in a company called Isagenix. She chose Isagenix because of the company's culture of integrity, community, education and transparency. This was a place Sue feels she belongs and can live the life she wants. She's able to truly help people, spend time with her family, and travel.
Sue loves spending time with her Kids and Grandchildren who keep her busy with their sports, acting and modeling schedules. They are a family who loves to cook family recipes from her Lebanese and Lithuanian heritage as well as explore local restaurants. Often time they are cooking with the food she grows in her garden. She is also very active in other community organizations and networking groups in the area such as the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber's Small Business Council where she is the Chair of this year's Snowball! Being involved in the community is important to Sue. She loves being active in service projects and giving back. Which is why she loves being a part of Rotary so much.
Restaurants aren't the only places Sue and Dave like to explore! They love to travel the world and have spectacular memories of places like Hong Kong and the Amazon. Their most memorable trip was to the Amazon River with her Shaman. (Who else do you know that is cool enough to have a Shaman?) They immersed themselves fully into the culture by living with a primitive tribe of 35 people who taught them about their holistic medicines through jungle walks to forage for plants and trees that heal. Sue left feeling energized and inspired. Who knows...with her love of travel, maybe her vision of a mission trip back to the Amazon could be an experience for Emmaus Rotary dive in to.

Your Foundation needs your help! This continuing shelter-at-home and virtual meeting society has adversely impacted our lives in numerous ways. It has also impacted our Club support of The Foundation. The virtual meetings have undercut our EREY cash program as well as eliminate the convenience of members bringing checks to the meetings.

It seems like we all like the idea of winning a festive prize at our meetings (in person or online). We have had some very generous and fun donations over the past few months since incorporating this new aspect to our meetings. Many thanks to all who have donated a prize! It is a nice way to give back to each other while doing some low-key networking for your business. In the wake of the Corona Virus now more than ever it's important to show the local businesses in our community we care and support them. It may be eligible to run in our new section in the Trumpet called "Rotary and Beyond". It will cost $2.00 (Happy Dollars) each time you'd like to run the information in the Trumpet. To have the information posted in the Trumpet you must be an active committee member or board member of the non-profit organization facilitating the activity outside of Rotary participation. The $2.00 entry may be given to Meghan at a club meeting. Contact Meghan with any questions.

Last month for Youth Services Month we highlight Fionnuir Ni Chochlain. Anthony Moyer wrote a really nice article about Finn sharing her accomplishments. I thought it would be appropriate to run the article again being that Finn was our guest at last week's meeting. Tony's article touched on many of the topics Finn shared about herself at our meeting. She is an incredibly bright, talented, kind and motivated young person. Listening to her talk about her passions and her future made me feel good about the next generation of leaders. If you were not able to catch her talk please take a bit of time this week and watch. You will walk away feeling uplifted and happy to know that this Interact Student and Emmaus Rotary Scholarship Recipient is sure to do great things in the world. She is a "Person of Action" and she absolutely embodies the "Be The Good In the World" motto.
Fionnuir Ni Chochlain is our 2020 ERC Emmaus High School Scholarship winner!
Fin has been involved in our Emmaus Rotary Interact Club throughout her high school experience. She served as Interact Club Vice President and President. Fin was involved with organizing our ERC Miracle League Trick or Treat booth, Rotary/Interact dinner meetings, Letters to Santa, and served as the Mosser Nursing Home correspondent for Interact sponsored Bingo Nights.
At Emmaus High School, Fin was involved with the choral department and served as stage manager for numerous theatrical productions. She played soccer for Emmaus High School and the Lower Macungie Youth Association.
Personally, she enjoys playing piano and singing. Fin also serves as a piano instructor. She enjoys the art of embroidery and learning the Irish language. In addition, Fin is an accomplished Irish dancer.
Fin will be attending Northeast University in the fall as a History and Political Science major. She plans to attend law school focusing on health policy. Fin’s ultimate goal is to engage in a career that serves others. She lives with her mother and has two older sisters.

EMMAUS PROUD #SupportLocal T-Shirts are $18 each, including shipping, with a portion of the proceeds supporting EHS Angel Network.
Shirts must be ordered by Friday May 22, 2020 and will be shipped out by Monday May 25, 2020.
The proceeds for the Angel Network will be used to support families receiving free & reduced lunches in the district through food baskets, purchasing gift cards to local grocery stores, and more.
