Reminder No Meeting This Week!
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) sure has made things interesting and has certainly provided us perspective on a World Crisis situation.

With that said, the ERC Executive Committee has decided to cancel the next two Emmaus Rotary Meetings March 19th and March 26th.  It is in all our best interest to stay healthy during these times and take care of those around us who need us the most.

I encourage all committees to continue their incredible work and stay in communication with each other so our services have full momentum when everything is restored to "normal".

We will keep in touch with everyone with any other changes and additional information as we move through this delicate time.

Please feel free to reach out to your Executive Committee, Myself, Lexa Shallcross, Mike Waddell, Meghan Reed with any questions or concerns.

Below is a link to an article from the CDC that was provided to me to help you protect you and your loved ones.

Paul Harris Recognition

Congratulations to Don Blose, Mario Cozzubbo, Dee Eng, Mark Erle, Michael Gibson, Craig Reber, Gary Rohrbach, Joanne Smida and Alicia Ruiz-Orbin on their recent Paul Harris Fellow Recognition and we'd like to acknowledge Jim Palmquist for his contributions as a member of the Paul Harris Society.  The generosity of our Paul Harris Fellows and Society Members is truly appreciated.

Bill Erdman and Cindy Hornaman put together a very thoughtful program and recognition ceremony last week to honor our members and help us to understand what The Rotary Foundation is all about.  Did you know that the Emmaus Rotary Club is the largest contributor to the Foundation in our District? (Not even including Shelter Box and Polio Plus donations!) Because of our donations to The Rotary Foundation our club has been able to successfully implement  over 100 local service projects? ERC has contributed over $161,000 and thus far $435,000 of those funds have been allocated local projects like our current Feed East Penn Students Lunch Packing Program.  We continue to knock it out of the park as we are 88% of goal for the year and on track to meet our goal by the end of June.  Want to see more great local projects? Fill your Rotary Piggy Bank and be sure to visit our EREY table each week with even a small contribution because every single dollar matters.  You can even have your contributions withdrawn automatically through Rotary Direct. Learn more by connecting with Bill Erdman.

Thank you Bill and Cindy for a great program. I encourage our members to watch or revisit this meeting. It was very interesting to learn important Rotary history and get an understanding of just who Paul Harris was; how the experiences he had as a young man, shaped him to be the leader he became. How because of Paul Harris we have the gift of Rotary! A way for each of us to put service above self and be a catalyst for good in the world.

Do Your Rotary Homework!
Good morning Emmaus Rotary Club – our meetings are canceled for the next few weeks so here is a bit of homework that we can all do while being properly socially distanced!

Steve asked me to review the committee lists in ClubRunner and make recommendations for tidying the lists up and making them current.  I did that by using his membership spreadsheet and adding/deleting members to each committee as needed, making sure that the Chairs were correct (to the  best of my knowledge) and adding committees as directed. Also, one of the advantages of keeping the committee lists in ClubRunner is that when entered this way the committees we are on are then listed in our respective club profiles.

**A caveat here- I believe that everyone has the correct level access to be able to get to their profile, Chairs to edit committees, etc.  If not, let me know and I’ll ask our ClubRunner higher ups to grant the access you need.

Sequence to access the committees screen – Member login – click Member Area-organization tab-committees tab-view standing committees (left column)-click on your committee name to see the membership list.

The screen shot below shows the 16 committees.

All members – please look at your club profile to see what committee(s) you are listed on.  If not correct, please contact the appropriate committee chair to make a change.

Committee Chairs – please look at your committee(s) and make sure that your membership list is correct and amend as needed. **On the right side click the orange Add Member to add a member, click X to delete a member, and the edit icon to bring up a specific member and edit as needed.

Please have this editing done by Wednesday, April 1.

Please contact me at 484-274-2089 or mgwaddx@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Thanks and be safe,
Mike Waddell

Weekly Door Prize Donations Needed! Be our next meeting's prize sponsor!
It seems like we all like the idea of winning a festive prize at our meetings (in person or online).  We have had some very generous and fun donations over the past few months since incorporating this new aspect to our meetings. Many thanks to all who have donated a prize!  It is a nice way to give back to each other while doing some low-key networking for your business.
In the wake of the Carona Virus now more than ever it's important to show the local businesses in our community we care and support them.  They have shown us support with raffle donations and sponsorships throughout the years. Consider purchasing a $20.00 gift card from one of the many small businesses in the East Penn Area.  As we know every little bit helps. It's also a great way to start a conversation about Rotary and invite business owners and managers to a club meeting. Please contact Meghan Reed for more information about our weekly door prizes and how you can be help!

Upcoming Committee Meetings: Consider holding a virtual meeting to stay in touch and on task with your committee!
(Does your committee have an upcoming meeting? Let Meghan know and we will list it here)

Rotary and Beyond:
If you are participating in a fundraiser outside of Rotary and would like help spreading the word to our club members please contact Meghan Reed. It may be eligible to run in our new section in the Trumpet called "Rotary and Beyond".  It will cost $2.00 (Happy Dollars) each time you'd like to run the information in the Trumpet.  To have the information posted in the Trumpet you must be an active committee member or board member of the non-profit organization facilitating the activity outside of Rotary participation. The $2.00 entry may be given to Meghan at a club meeting.  Contact Meghan with any questions.

StarKist Chunk Light Tuna in Water, 5 oz Can - Walmart.com ...
The Feed East Penn Students Food Packing Program needs your help!

It has become more difficult for Second Harvest to supply us with protein sources for the 200 children we feed each week.  We are reaching out to our membership for help in collecting cans of tuna fish.  We will be collecting weekly until we have met the need.
Bring your cans of tuna fish donations this week:
Thursday, May 21, 2020
8:45pm - 9:15pm
In front of Bethany Bible Fellowship church (418 Elm Street Emmaus, Office entrance)
Don Blose will be masked and gloved with a box for you to place your tuna fish in.

If you can help please take a ride and drop off your tuna fish.  We feed 200 people each and every week and with the continued protein (peanut butter, tuna, chicken, cereal, and milk) shortages at all food banks we know our Rotarians will step up and help.  We order food from Second Harvest each month for the children.  We have had a substantial contribution of monies from a lot of different sources and I thank each and every one of you for helping.  To keep our monies available and still help all of these children throughout the summer we are going to need your help.  We will continue to ask each and every week until either we have too much or Second Harvest has the supplies on hand we need.

Thank you for your continued generosity in advance
Yours in Service Rick Zayaitz
