Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.β β James Baldwin
Sighβ¦this week we are gathering at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden after our June 2 regular meeting to remember Wilmer, Dale and Gordie. I truly wish that I had gotten to know these guys better years ago when I joined our club. They were excellent Rotarians, all past presidents of the club, solid businessmen and their biographies read like something from a rags to riches novel in some cases. However, as a young Rotarian I was too much in awe of them to really engage them and learn from them. Sighβ¦big loss for me. Now I know that these three were always willing to help others, give sage advice and lived the 4 Way Test in their personal and professional lives.
Sigh, so what? Well, letβs try to learn from each other NOW in whatever ways we can. Is there someone that youβve thought about chatting with, well, do it. Have you sat at the same table for breakfast for the past ??? years, well move around, what can it hurt? We are all really good people with much to offer and fellowship and learning from each other is the best thing we can do to help ourselves and our club, Sigh, in my very humble opinion of course.
Please save June 2nd after Rotary to honor three of our Rotarians who have passed this year. We will meet at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden 150 East Main St. behind Cintas at 9:00a.m.
Mark your calendar for June 9th. You will have the opportunity to spend your hard earned Rotary Bucs on incredibly valuable Rotary items, like socks, key rings, mugs, etc. Get there early! The sale table will be open at 7:15
We are also accepting items from you to donate to the fun. Things that have been collecting recent dust and you no longer want. Remember we are paying Rotary Dollars for these items.
NEXT week is our food collection week. Joanne and Ashley are the new leaders of this great cause.
As you're doing your grocery shopping or cleaning out your pantry this weekend, please keep in mind the following items that the Emmaus Food Pantry needs to support our community.
October/November Food Pantry Needs
*Regular sized items only; no large family sized items
A huge thank you to all who came out last week. Our new site went quite well. There are always things that change and we will work out little kinks as they appear. Let's put on a good show this week for our District Governor and show him how adaptable our Club is to change.
Let's remember to support Roger, Gary and the entire Centennial Committee in preparations for a really fun 2025 year.
Now is time to renew for 2022. The price is the same as last year, only $49.00 for the year. This will include having our great Flag put on your property 6 times this year starting with Memorial Day.
I will be set up to take payments this week at Rotary. I can take credit cards or your check.
Emmaus Rotarians truly do live a lifestyle of Service Above Self!
Many of us help with other organizations to raise funds for great causes. If you wish to mention your outside fund-raising event at Rotary, just put up four Happy Dollars and let us know about what is going on. If I have a website link to your cause I will post it here.
Ex. I support the PA. Perimeter Ride Against Cancer which benefits the American Cancer Society and Dream Come True.
