Our golf tournament was moved to Monday, October 15th 2018. Thank you Rotarians for your understanding.
People face all kinds of adversities in life, our golf tournament is a small reminder of what mother nature is capable of. We have a possible hurricane Florence about to strike the southeastern coast of our shores this week. As Rotarians we are people of action. Please keep everyone in these coastal States in your prayers and be prepared to help where we can if necessary. Remember we are smart, compassionate, persevering and inspiring people...Rotarians. As Rotarians we need to be prepared for what may happen in other people's lives so we can help out whether as an individual, a club, a district or Rotary International.

Yes, Rich Ward is on his way! He is currently an elected Lower Macungie Commissioner and works as a consultant to publically traded companies. On September 6th, Ward gave his classification talk and Emmaus Rotarians learned more about Ward's humble beginnings in an Italian Catholic home in Corona, Queens. He spoke about the values and encouragement he received from his stable family. He instructed us that it is always "meatball and gravy".
He married his wife Debbie in 1994 and they moved to Long Island where Ward joined the local fire company as a volunteer in 1997. He recalled the sadness of September 11th. It was one of the challenging times of his life, as was the premature birth of his first son.
In 2004, the Wards moved to the Lehigh Valley. Rich Ward values contributing to his community. He has served on the LM public safety commission, the zoning board and as an advisor to the Board of Commissioners. This last January, Ward began a 4 year elected term as a Commissioner.
The Little Libraries painted by the Emmaus High School Interact Club and Emmaus Rotary are being installed on the grounds of our school district's elementary schools. The one pictured above is by the main doors at Jefferson Elementary on Elm Street in the Borough. Look for them. Currently, they are well stocked. Take a walk with your grandchild and explore the books available. Books do not need to be returned or exchanged although families often do that. Spread the word among your neighbors.
On Thursday, October 4th, the EPSD Education Foundation will host a Career Exploration Fair for 5th through 12th grade students and their families. The event will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the EHS gym. The fair will provide students and parents/guardians the chance to connect with local professionals to learn about specific careers, the training/education required for those careers, job outlook, and more! Currently, there are plans for 50 tables. There will also be a drawing for an IPad!
Rotarians Sal Verrastro and Tony Moyer can help both individual businesses as presentors and Emmaus club members as volunteers to plug into this event.
We are having our next fellowship event on Thursday, September 27th, 4:30 - 6:30 PM at Legend Personal Care in Macungie. The address is 6043 Lower Macungie Road, Macungie, PA 18062.

Feel free to invite a member-guest as well! All are welcome!

We have collected 154 deodorants and this is our last week to reach our optimum goal of 200 for the Angel Network. I will be delivering our contribution to Holy Spirit Church on November 12th. I want to thank all of you who have made contributions to this drive. We are working with the Angel Network again to provide Baskets for families of East Penn School District. In the past, we have collected tuna, soup, dish detergent, and pasta.
Every year when we do this I am amazed at the support of our club and proud to be a member of the best club in the Lehigh Valley!
