Last Week's Speaker: STEM YEA
Recognizing our STEM YEA Volunteers (Tony too).
Last Thursday, Amy Sheller delivered a very interesting presentation titled “Storytelling for Connection and Impact." Amy is a Rotarian from the Kutztown Rotary Club (District 7430, Pennsylvania). She is a Past President of the club, a Past Assistant Governor, former District 7430 Public Image Chair, and currently serves as Rotary Public Image Coordinator (RPIC) for Zone 32. Professionally, she is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, and visual storyteller. She co-owns Abominable Productions, an award-winning video production company specializing in cinematic storytelling and marketing communications. Throughout her presentation, Amy emphasized that stories create connections in ways that facts alone cannot. Whether highlighting a service project, a member's journey, or the impact Rotary has on individuals and communities, authentic storytelling helps people understand who we are and why Rotary matters.
She encouraged Rotarians to think beyond simply reporting activities and instead focus on the human impact behind every project. By sharing compelling stories, clubs can strengthen their public image, attract new members, and inspire greater community engagement. At the end, Amy gave out blank cards and asked us to write our own story - how we came to Rotary and what the impact is.
CAN TAB UPDATE
After years of collecting can tabs I’ve decided to hang up my hat as can tab collector. Over the last 8 years we collected enough can tabs to fill the trunk of my car twice. One delivery was dropped off directly at the Ronald McDonald House, the second was taken right to the recycling plant so that I can send a donation check to Ronald McDonald House on our Club’s behalf. The second trip was a bit enlightening as the total haul only yielded $76. This is not to look down at this contribution or sound disappointed in our collective action for a good cause. However I feel that our time and energy is best served in other ways to make a larger impact. The Ronald McDonald House does great work, could we help them in other ways? Perhaps we take one month of happy dollars as a donation? Or maybe it’s time to support another cause all together. It has been a pleasure to serve the club in the capacity in honor of Ralph Lewis. I’m sure we will make him proud in a new and improved way! Shine Bright ✨ Meghan Reed

Collecting Shoe Boxes for a Holiday Hope Box - this is our last week collecting
Just a quick reminder that we’re collecting empty shoe boxes with lids at Emmaus Rotary Club meetings throughout the month of July for a Holiday Hope Box project we’ll be supporting alongside LCCC’s Career Development Center.
For those of us who save perfectly good shoe boxes (with lids!) “just in case” they might be useful for a future project someday, congratulations! Our moment has arrived.
Your empty shoe boxes (with lids!) will be very appreciated!
Best, Valerie Deneen
