President's Message - July 3, 2017

Hello Emmaus Rotary!! I hope you and your families had a great holiday celebrating the founding of our great country.

As we begin the new Rotary year, I am very honored to serve as President of Emmaus Rotary Club. Following those who have led our club’s efforts of service to others -- whether in our local or international community -- is an amazing privilege. As we reflect on this year’s theme: “Rotary – Making a Difference”, let us do just that as we continue to support the needs in our East Penn community and make the world a better place for our neighbors across the globe.

We will hold a Club Assembly at this week’s breakfast meeting. I will be sharing this year’s goals and highlights from the newly updated strategic plan and introducing the committee chairs for this Rotary year. We are fortunate to have so many Rotarians in our club committed to “Service Above Self.” I look forward to serving with all of you in the coming year.

President's change over Breakfast

If you have not been to a President's change over breakfast this is one you will not want to miss next June 28th. Rick Grommis the new Governor Elect had a few words to say and emphasized the MAD program for the 2017-2018 Rotary year. "Making a Difference". We had a past Emmaus Rotarian visiting from Florida, watching the passing of the gavel the ultimate story of why Rotary works.......every past President was personally invited and all that could make the meeting stood in front of the club with a sign indicating the year served as President. The gavel was then from the oldest Past President Wilmer Shultz, then to Carl Frantz, all the way to Jeff McElhaney and finally stopping at our current President Burt Duren. Burt received his incoming President's pin From District Governor Rick Grommis and had the pleasure of ringing the bell to signify the end of the end of the meeting and the new Presidential year. What a wonderful display of President's still attending and being involved in our club and activities. The pictures below tell the story all in and of it self. Please take a moment and look at all of the Past President's.

Strike Out Hunger on August 11th

Dear Rotarians,

Come to the 33rd Annual Rotary Strike-Out Hunger Night on Friday, August 11th where the Phillies take on the New York Mets at 7:05 pm in Citizens Bank Park. The following seating ticket locations are reserved for District 7430:

11 tickets in section 136- $47 each

20 tickets in section 144- $38 each

50 tickets in section 202- $30 each

50 tickets in section 310- $20 each

All other seats I will order

Remember your Club will get $10 on EVERY ticket they purchase. That's $10- even on a $20 ticket. The money will come back to your Club as Foundation credits that you can use for giving Paul Harris Awards.

Ticket orders are being taken now, don't delay they are going fast. Each club should have a member who will collect all ticket money and then send payment to me, PDG Gerry Long. Tickets will be sent to that Club representative after receiving payment.

Tickets are very popular as it's Phillies Alumni Weekend when Pete Rose will be added to the Wall of Fame. Get your groups together so that we can get you the good seats!

Registration Open for 10th Annual Emmaus Rotary Golf Tournament

The Emmaus Rotary Golf Tournament Committee is pleased to announce details of the club's 10th annual golf tournament and open up registration.

The Emmaus Rotary Golf Tournament Committee is pleased to announce details of the club's 10th annual golf tournament and open up registration.

The tournament will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sign-in on the day of event is from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Golfers and sponsors can register quickly and easily online here.

The tournament is designed to bring the community together to enjoy one another and the game of golf while raising funds to benefit families and children through Emmaus Rotary's and Rotary International's various service projects.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Check the list below to see if you are scheduled to serve as Greeter & Raffle, Sign-in Table, Invocation or EREY.

If you will not be at the meeting when you have an assignment, please arrange for another member to swap with you or cover for you. NOTE-CHANGES MAY BE MADE FROM PREVIOUS TRUMPETS.
