President's Message

Hello Emmaus Rotary,

Thank you to all those who were able to attend the Club Assembly last week.  It was fun to see and hear the reactions of our members as we presented some information never shared before at a general meeting.  I appreciate the comments and look forward in helping to continue to make your experience at Emmaus Rotary Club as rewarding as possible.

The heart of Rotary is about helping others.  This weeks program is just that.  Preparing Rwandan Educators to deliver meaningful learning experiences.  If you want to see how far Rotary reaches, this is a great week to come to our meeting.

Hope to see you all Thursday along with a Guest!!!  :)

Yours in Rotary,

Steve Gould
2019-2020 ERC President
Rwanda in the Rotarian this week
Sometimes you just get lucky and this week is my week, I guess.  Bill Whipple is our program presenter this week and he is with the Teach Rwanda organization.  Coincidentally, there are two articles in the Rotarian this month about the horrible genocide that happened in Rwanda in 1994 and how Rotary has helped the country and its people recover...give the articles a read beginning on p. 26.

January 9, 2020 Meeting Recap - Club Assembly
On January 9, 2020 we held our quarterly Club Assembly to get our membership up to speed on a variety of important topics.
As we push forward with our goal of reaching 125 members this year, Steve thanked all those who have made a concerted effort in bringing a guest to a club meeting and shared the monthly video from our District Governor, Herb Klotz about the importance of membership in our Rotary Clubs.  Treasurer, Chris Wills gave a detailed report on the club's current budget followed by a summery from Bill Erdman about The Rotary International Foundation Committee. Bill shared the happy news that our club has already reached 73% of our annual goal!  We also heard committee reports and member feedback. If you were not at the meeting or would like to revisit this information click the link included here to our YouTube video of last week's meeting.

Community Service Committee Collecting Gym Clothes for Elementary Students
The Emmaus Rotary Community Service Committee would like to put out a request for NEW sweatpants for Boys and Girls in sizes KIDS Small, Medium and Large and also KIDS underwear (both sexes) Size 4 to Size 10.  This is a request from Lincoln Elementary School in Emmaus - Students have been turning up for Gym Class without the necessary clothing.  If you can't shop for any items and would like to make a DONATION - Karen will collect and buy what is needed.  Thanks so much.  We are currently still collecting bath towels for Turning Point who are low on these supplies right now.  Thank you to all who brought in blankets and comforters for Turning Point recently.

Thank you,
Karen and Nicole
