Jackie Folsom from the Lehigh County Humane Society

Last week, we welcomed Jackie Folsom, Chief Development Officer of the Lehigh Valley Humane Society. Jackie shared how the organization provides shelter, medical care, adoption services, and community outreach for animals throughout the Lehigh Valley. A 2026 news article reported that the shelter took in over 3,000 animals in 2025, with more than 1,600 adoptions (approximately 20 owner-surrender requests per day).
The Humane Society provides veterinary care, behavioral enrichment and foster placement for the pets in their care. Jackie highlighted the critical role of volunteers, foster families, and donors in supporting the Humane Society's mission and helping animals find safe and loving homes. She mentioned some of the unique challenges facing the organization, including meeting the growing demand for animal care services. Her presentation reminded us that a caring community can make a lasting difference for both animals and the people who love them.

Hi Area 1,

Our first mixer of the year is set for 9/10 in Downtown Allentown, 5-7pm. Details:

• Venue: Arts Walk Pocket Park 65 N Church Street

• What’s provided: Music, cash bar, food available for purchase, seating for all

• Bonus: The first 25+ people who sign up get a free DaVinci day pass, courtesy of me!

This is a great chance to meet new people, connect with friends, bring people who are thinking about joining, and hear what other clubs are up to.

Please RSVP by 9/5 and share this with your club — the bigger the turnout, the better!

Looking ahead, I’d like to hold our next mixer in November.

Happy Birthday!
