“You cannot do kindness too soon, for you never know when it will be too late.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

This Thursday, February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day…who would have guessed!?  There are many, many examples of random acts of kindness to be found with a Google search and I included one short list below, but, the one that I miss most is a Smile. To me a Smile from someone is something that speaks volumes to individuals, to a group, it’s free and easily says something positive to the recipient of the smile.  Unfortunately, the recent pandemic has masked Smiles all too often and I’m very concerned about our students whose faces have been hidden for the last two years in our schools, but, that’s a different topic.

However, I must say that Rotarians seem to be regular Smilers [?] when I see them and I have to think that it’s because we work hard to do good both locally and globally.  Doing good brings a Smile to our faces because we know that perhaps we’ve helped someone whose down on their luck, had a misfortune or just needed a helping hand.  So, I’m thinking that National Random Acts of Kindness is just a typical day for Rotarians…how about you?

Here are 10 acts of kindness, but I'm sure that you can add more....
  • Stop to lend a hand. ...
  • Spread some beauty. ...
  • Shovel a neighbors sidewalk. ...
  • Call someone whose not feeling well [use the Club Runner app for Rotarians!]...
  • Let a stranger go in front of you in line. ...
  • Send a kind note to someone. ...
  • Clean up. ...
  • Pay it forward...
