“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in”.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the Club Recognition Celebration last week and thanks to Lexa and her team for making it happen…good food, good fellowship and good people.
The Rotary year is coming to a close and I really appreciated spending time with many of the members who make our Rotary Club so successful. Truthfully, I don’t think that we take enough time to celebrate and appreciate what we do each year. As Rick liked to remind me, we’re all volunteers implying that we can’t push the members too hard…I disagree to a point. Yes, we are all volunteers, but we are all volunteers with a common vision and commitment to helping people locally, nationally and internationally and for that reason we are, perhaps, more willing to do more when asked. As members we could be doing anything each week, but we choose to volunteer our time, talents, energy, leadership, and commitment to Rotary [and probably other places as well!] because we want to help others.
More about the fruits of our labors next week….stay tuned.
