Tricia Butynskyi of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network was the speaker at the September 15, 2016 meeting of Emmaus Rotary Club.  Tricia has been practicing Physical Therapy for 19 years – 16 of which have been at Good Shepherd.  She graduated from College Misericordia with her doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Prior to joining Good Shepherd, Tricia was a traveling physical therapist in several states including Texas, Louisiana, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Tricia focused her presentation on techniques to alleviate back and neck pain.  She provided a hand-out to everyone which detailed a variety of exercises designed to strengthen and/or stretch the muscles that provide support for the back and neck.  These exercises included hamstring, piriformis and quadriceps stretches, as well as a variety of strengthening exercises for the cervical spine.  Tricia emphasized that most of the exercises can be done during otherwise idle time such as when stopped at traffic signals or waiting in line at the store.
