President's Message

Hello Emmaus Rotary

I hope everyone is having a great week.  Thank you to Ashley Lorah who gave an inspiring classification talk last Thursday.  I was sorry I was unable to see in person, however the efforts of John Chisca and others have not gone unseen.  Thank you John for creating a way to make and preserve Emmaus Rotary history by videoing our weekly meetings. YouTube is a great way to see what you missed and now another way to get in make ups.   Check out Ashley's presentation at https://youtu.be/P2VYFQ5eits

Club Assembly this Thursday.  Get involved and see what's cooking at Emmaus Rotary Club.  For those new members, Club Assembly is all about reviewing the year ahead and learning how you can make an impact through your membership at Emmaus Rotary.  You don't want to miss it!!!!!

See you all Thursday

Ashley Lorah Presents Ashley....

The club was treated to a very interesting classification talk by Ashley Lorah last week.  She told us about growing up in Upper Macungie Township and graduating from Parkland HS while living with two amazing parents and an older sister who is a Spanish translator now living in Lancaster with her husband, Bill.  She was very involved in sports at all ages growing up including volleyball in high school and then as a club activity in college.  She studied Exercise Science in college at Ashland University then went to Ohio State University to study Sport Management and worked as a Graduate Assistant in Recreational Sports at OSU.

She now works as the Emmaus Main Street Manager, East Penn, Western Lehigh and Southern Lehigh Chamber Liaison
where she gets to meet many different people through her job where she helps host events like luncheons, fundraisers, mixers, tours, festivals, ribbon cuttings, and more and has found an outlet for philanthropy in different seasons of her life: Ronald McDonald House, Pelotonia, and now Rotary!  She ended by telling us that she is riding 100 miles during the first week in August to help raise money for cancer research which we as members may want to support.

Be sure to chat with Ashley the next time you see her...a very interesting new member!

Video Meeting Make-up Guidelines

Emmaus Rotary Club Videos and Meeting Make-Up Guidelines

1.    Emmaus Rotary Club meeting videos are at www.youtube.emmausrotary.org and can be watched at any time.  This is arranged so club members can keep up with what happened at club meetings when they cannot attend.

2.    Using these videos for Emmaus Rotary Club meeting make-ups:

a.   Any Emmaus Rotary Club meeting video can be viewed during the two weeks prior until two weeks after the meeting you want to make-up.  For example, this week's meeting date was June 27 so to make it up, view any ERC club video but do it between June 13 and July 11.

b.    Videos can be reported as a make-ups by giving the Club Secretary [Jim Palmquist] a check for $10 and telling him what video you watched.  A credit card payment option will be available soon.

c.  There is no limit on the number of video make-ups that can be used in a Rotary year.

3.  This is a six month pilot program that will be evaluated at the January, 2020 Board meeting to determine if it should be continued, modified, etc.

Dear Rotarians,

Come join D7430 Phillies Phans and Strike-Out Hunger at the 35th Annual Game on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 7:05 pm, as our Phillies play the Chicago Cubs.

The success the Phillies have had selling tickets this year has made seating in some sections limited. Because of their commitment to Rotary, there will be plenty of good seats available. I urge you to get your ticket orders in early. Thanks to your participation, the RI Foundation has benefitted by over $1 million to help eradicate Polio, and thousands of pounds of food have been contributed to Local Food Banks.
