International Women's Day
Emmaus Rotary celebrated their second year of awarding a district rotary woman of distinction and a community woman of distinction.
Check the Trumpet's photo gallery for highlights of the morning.

Emmaus Rotary celebrated International women's day with Alicia Ruiz Ortiz as the leader of the committee.  Thank you to Rose and Eileen for helping with the presentation for Emmaus Rotary, and Burt Durin our immediate past President for making this celebration a possibility.
Rotary International completed a week- long presentation for Women around the world.  Take a moment and go to Rotary International women's day and see the changes that Rotary is helping to sustain throughout the world.  We should be proud of an organization that has come so far in a little over 32 years.  Is our journey together ever completed......NO but we are at the head of the class when it is necessary.
I sent out an email this week to send a card to Marg Geosits.  Marg was the first women ever inducted into Emmaus Rotary.   Please make her feel the Rotary welcome and that her friends at Rotary are always thinking about her.  Take a moment and reach out, she was a visionary for her times.  I am not sure she liked the best sports teams (Yankee fan) but always made our meeting interesting jousting with other members who are Red Sox fans.  This week remember the people who forged the way for each one of us in Rotary and say thank you.  Have a great Rotary week.
Yours in service,
Rick Zayaitz
Emmaus Rotary Celebrates International Women's Day

Emmaus Rotary recognized an outstanding Rotarian from Allentown West and a remarkable community leader in its second celebration of International Women's Day on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Rose Galeano Phillips, a committee member, was the director of ceremonies and introduced the two honorees who then spoke briefly about their work.

President Rick Zayaitz presented Rotarian Dr. Barbara Kistler with a citation.

Jenae Hsoltzhafer founded the Kindness Project, located in Emmaus, which supports and serves foster children and foster families in the Lehigh Valley.

Staffing LM Community Day Display

The 9th Annual Lower Macungie Community Day is Tuesday, May 7th, 2019.
Our PR ("Promoting Rotary") and Communications Committee is looking for Rotarians to staff our display table. This is a well-attended, packed event with lots of activities like face-painting, kite-building, a petting zoo, senior bingo, tours of the newly expanded library and community center.
We need at least 4 people: 2 or more from set-up to 6 p.m. and 2 or more from 6 p.m. to clean-up. Set-up at the Lower Macungie Community Center on Brookside Road is at 3:30 p.m. and Clean-up is at the end of the event at 8 p.m. There will be a shuttle from the vendors parking area so parking will not be a problem.
Please let John Chisca know you can help showcase Emmaus Rotary and the ways we serve our local communities and the world.

Look at your calendar now. Plan to be part of our annual
"Make a Difference Day" on October 19, 2019.  At that time, we will try to do as many community service projects as possible including being marshalls at the annual Emmaus Halloween Parade and cleaning up the streets the next morning.  See Nicole Steirer and Karen Hobson for more information.

Rotarian Ralph Lewis reported that $121 and several boxes of food were collected on Thursday, September 5th. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
