Many thanks to the numerous members who wished me good luck starting out my term as your President. I’m very fortunate that I’ve seen many good Presidents over the past almost 20 years as a member and, as presidents-elect, we went through a rigorous learning regimen that broadened our knowledge base and network for our presidential year. And, of course, I’m hopeful that the The[ Rotary] Force will be with me! BTW – my apologies for the inadvertent Baby Yoda blasting in the Powerpoint. She is fine. but our special effects advisor was given an indefinite time-out.
Even though I didn’t work in the business world per se, I learned very quickly that hiring the best and brightest people was my number job as a school administrator. I think that this also translates to what we do as a Rotary Club and fortunately we have many, many good people dedicated to Service Above Self. However, like any good company/organization we need to constantly be looking for more good people so that we can do even more locally and globally and as I said at the club assembly last week, the first part of our FRIORE membership model is Find [Recruit, Induct, Orient, Retain/Exit] which makes us all FINDERS. The Prospective Member Referral Form was sent to everyone this week so please complete it and give it to Courtney or Wade if you talked to someone and s/he showed some interest in possibly joining.
Part 2 - next week’s message will be about what to specifically do and/or say when you FIND a prospective member.
As members we are all responsible for making each week's meeting a success. Working the sign-in and EREY tables are a great way to get to know members.
PLEASE NOTE: If you prefer NOT to be on this list or if you prefer NOT to be given a specific assignment, please let me Diamond Man Eric know via email. DiamondMan@LochsJewelers.com
The assignments below are selected from our membership list and are in alphabetical order (or close to it). Should you be unavailable to make it to the meeting to fulfill your assignment, please do one of the following:
- Switch with someone else from another week.
- Contact another member to fill your slot. Club Runner has our Member Directory.
- If either one of the above attempts is unsuccessful, please notify me ASAP. DiamondMan@LochsJewelers.com
At this week's meeting we are putting together supply kits to benefit women at Turning Point. They need our help!
Survivors and their children often arrive at Turning Point of Lehigh Valley's Safe House Emergency Shelter with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Welcome Baskets provide families with necessities to help them feel welcome and valued. All items that they receive, they will take with them as they start their lives over.
This week, during our breakfast meeting at Brookside, we are making this a service activity meeting for all and put together these baskets.
Tomorrow's Meeting is going to be presented by Peter Jones who is the District 7430 Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee Co-Chair and a member of the Blue Bell Rotary Club.
Rotary International, District 7430 and our Club all value the member experience and maintaining Rotary as a thriving and growing organization. Throughout Rotary, we recognize our communities are diversifying. Rotary wants to make sure our Clubs are attracting people from across our communities.
Our District Governor, Bob Hobaugh, continues strong support and participates in this effort.
Peter is here to tell us more about Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Professionally he has 25 years executive experience in organizational transformation at Independence Blue Cross and is bringing those skills to our District.
The Emmaus Rotary Club has our own Diversity Equity and Inclusion Working Group that will report on its work at our Club meeting on August 12.
DECEMBER is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month
At Rotary, we believe good health care is everyone’s right. Yet 400 million people in the world can’t afford or don’t have access to basic health care.
Disease results in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. We lead efforts both large and small. We set up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access. We design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together.
Our members combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care.
