I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed the Subterranean like weather last week. Looks like we have nice weather in the week ahead.
Last week’s Club Assembly meeting was packed with great information from our Committee Chairs. Hopefully everyone benefited from the descriptive information how the heart of our club really operates. Getting involved with committees is truly the essence of being an impactful member of Emmaus Rotary and Rotary International. Without engaging in these committees, you are truly only paying for ERC dues and breakfast once a week. Serving committees will strengthen your fellowship, provide you with fulfillment through Rotary's mission and change yours and many lives around you.
For those of you who were not in attendance last week, we will have committee sign-up sheets the next several meetings. Do not miss out on the real Rotary Experience. They will be located right inside the door on the right.
Board of Directors meeting this Thursday July 25, 2019 immediately following the general meeting. ALL MEMBERS are welcome to attend. This is a great way for make ups and to see what happens on the Board level. You will notice in this Trumpet that the Board Meeting Agenda has been posted. We are hoping to become more transparent in how the ERC operates. This should have a positive influence on the future of our club and the leaders to come!!!

Obviously, I was very proud to have Peyton join my wife (Edie) and me for our Rotary breakfast meeting last Thursday. She is the “Real Deal”, not just someone I made up and bragged about re her athletic and scholastic successes. She will be moving on in her athletic and scholastic careers at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois at the end of August. Thanks to all the Rotarians who made her feel welcome at our meeting.
As most Emmaus Rotarians know, I have been collecting Can Tabs for two years for the Miracle League. Last year, the Emmaus Rotary Club provided 5-One Gallon Jars of Tabs. This year we are working on completing our 2ND One Gallon Jar. We still have several months to collect these Tabs, through the second week in October. Let’s try to at least equal last year’s collection of 5-One Gallon Jars Of Tabs . I really appreciate being able to provide these Can Tabs to the MIracle League every year. These Tabs that come on Soda Cans, Beer Cans, Sardine Cans, Tuna Fish Cans and other Food Products. The Miracle League has several Handicapped Children that regularly go for help to the Dupont Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware a couple times a year for Rehabilitation Services. The Dupont Hospital is very similar to the Shriners Hospital and St. Judes Hospital that only treat Children, with No CostRequired for Payment. At the Dupont Childrens Hospital, McDonalds provided a Ronald McDonald House for families bringing their Children there for treatment at a very Low Cost. The Hospital operates this House and sells the Can Tabs for Money that almost covers the Annual Utilities Cost for the House. Several other Miracle Leagues and other organizations also collect Can Tabs for them. This is a great way to help the Dupont Children's Hospital by just providing them the Tabs that most people just throw away. Please try to collect these Tabs and bring them to our weeklyRotary Meeting, I collect them and take them to the Miracle League at the end of the Baseball Season.
Emmaus Rotary Club Videos and Meeting Make-Up Guidelines
1. Emmaus Rotary Club meeting videos are at www.youtube.emmausrotary.org and can be watched at any time. This is arranged so club members can keep up with what happened at club meetings when they cannot attend.
2. Using these videos for Emmaus Rotary Club meeting make-ups:
a. Any Emmaus Rotary Club meeting video can be viewed during the two weeks prior until two weeks after the meeting you want to make-up. For example, this week's meeting date was June 27 so to make it up, view any ERC club video but do it between June 13 and July 11.
b. Videos can be reported as a make-ups by giving the Club Secretary [Jim Palmquist] a check for $10 and telling him what video you watched. A credit card payment option will be available soon.
c. There is no limit on the number of video make-ups that can be used in a Rotary year.
3. This is a six month pilot program that will be evaluated at the January, 2020 Board meeting to determine if it should be continued, modified, etc.
We are less then 4 weeks away from our Drawing. Las Vegas has the Eagles Odds of winning Superbowl LIV at 14-1, they are predicting a great season.
Each Rotary Year we begin our Fundraising efforts by offering a chance for $20.00 to win Season Tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles. The tickets include 2 seats to all preseason and regular season home games, but do not include the Playoff option.
The Seats are located at Section 108, Row 38, Seats 5 and 6. The chances to win are 1-750.
(TICKETS WILL BE MAILED OUT)
The Drawing will be held on August 6, 2019 at Giuseppe's Pizza in Warminster, PA at 12:45PM. Tickets can be purchased by Cash or Check (made payable to Warminster Rotary Foundation) and obtained from any Warminster Rotarian or by calling Sean Friedland (sfriedland@fandgagency) 267-257-2002 or Nello Ianieri 267-669-7776.
Come join D7430 Phillies Phans and Strike-Out Hunger at the 35th Annual Game on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 7:05 pm, as our Phillies play the Chicago Cubs.
The success the Phillies have had selling tickets this year has made seating in some sections limited. Because of their commitment to Rotary, there will be plenty of good seats available. I urge you to get your ticket orders in early. Thanks to your participation, the RI Foundation has benefitted by over $1 million to help eradicate Polio, and thousands of pounds of food have been contributed to Local Food Banks.
