Feb 5th Meeting at Chestnut Ridge with Chris Kocher

Chris Kocher reminded us how fortunate we are to have the Wildlands right in our backyard.
While it’s easy to overlook the ongoing conservation and environmental stewardship happening around us, many communities don’t have organizations dedicated to protecting and managing their natural resources.
Chris shared inspiring stories about generous land donors, the community coming together during the bridge outage, and the dedicated volunteers who help keep the Wildlands accessible to everyone.
It was a powerful reminder of the impact this organization has on our community.
Chestnut Ridge generously hosted us with a full hot breakfast and with all donations supporting our scholarship fund. We’re grateful for their partnership and are pleased that they will host us again this week.

Happy February Birthdays!

The Future of the Lehigh Valley Workforce
Panel Discussion and Networking Event
Thank you to everyone who helped make Rotary Means Business: The Future of the Lehigh Valley Workforce such a meaningful and successful event!

We welcomed professionals and leaders from organizations including Kutztown University, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), LVEDC, SkillUp PA, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and more. We were especially excited to have The Morning Call in the room, sending both a journalist and a photographer to help share the story.

Events like this serve as powerful reminders of the impact our club can have when we open our doors and initiate important community conversations.

Benefits to Our Club:
  • Strengthened Relationships – We built new connections with key regional partners in education, workforce development, and economic growth.
  • Increased Visibility – A strong turnout helped elevate our public profile as a service-minded leadership organization.
  • New Membership Opportunities – The event attracted potential members who align with our mission and values.
  • Aligned with “Service Above Self” – By helping address workforce development, we’re tackling root causes of broader community challenges like poverty, food insecurity, and access to opportunity.
  • Positioned Rotary as a Connector – We’re connecting people, sectors, and solutions.
Special thanks to our emcee J.P. Raynock, President Nelly Kabiru, Cindy Hornaman, Rick Zayaitz, and everyone who helped coordinate, promote, or showed up to support.

Let’s keep the momentum going. More great things are ahead!

Meeting at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale
JAN 29, FEB 5 and Feb 12
We are so excited to announce that Chestnut Ridge at Rodale will be hosting our meetings for three weeks when Brookside is closed. Chestnut Ridge will provide hot and cold breakfast items, complementary in their lovely facility. This is a great opportunity for us to pass on their generosity by decreasing the cost of breakfast while also raising money. We highly recommend a $15 (or more donation) for breakfast.
Also, look out for new-comers the second two weeks. Chestnut Ridge will invite 10 to 15 of their residents to the meeting.

Tours of Chestnut ridge will be offered after each meeting.

January 29: Since this meeting was cancelled, happy dollars and a match will go towards Camp Neidig and STEM YEA

February 5: Our speaker was Chris Kocher from Wildlands Conservancy and donations went towards our EHS Scholarship fund

February 12: Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum will speak and funds will go to the Rotary International Foundation

Weather Policy
Our weather policy is to cancel our meeting whenever East Penn has a weather cancellation or whenever there is a 2-hour weather delay (or is virtual). EPSD's process for determining safety is robust, beginning the night before when they consult with Accuweather, PennDot, and other officials.
Please sign up for weather alerts by going to the following link, entering your information and searching for East Penn School district.
