On Sunday, the Flag Day committee hosted the annual Flag Day event at Community Park. East Penn students who won prizes for their Flag Day speeches are pictured below. Special thanks to Sarah Raynock for leading the efforts! As J.P. put it, it is an event out of Mayberry, bringing our community together.
Skip Smith, our Borough Manager
Skip Smith, former controller at Air Products, and now CEO of the Allentown Rescue Mission, leads efforts to provide compassionate, faith-based support and long-term solutions for men experiencing homelessness.
During his presentation, he described how the Mission follows a structured, three-step model: men first enter an Emergency Shelter providing short-term housing (up to 30 days), meals, and daily guidance; those ready for deeper change can move into the Transformation Program, which emphasizes life skills, wellness, financial literacy, and personal accountability; and finally, participants transition into the Clean Team Workforce, where they receive paid employment, housing support, and job placement assistance.
He highlighted wraparound services, including medical care through a free clinic, daily meals year-round, counseling, scholarships, and specialized pathways for veterans, demonstrating the Mission’s comprehensive approach to helping men move from crisis to independence.
JUNE IS ROTARY FELLOWSHIPS MONTH!
Rotary Fellowships deepen connections beyond the club
Rotary Fellowshipsare international, that bring Rotarians together around shared hobbies, professions, or identities. From music and art to sports, history, and technology, fellowships help create a more connected global Rotary community — and offer meaningful ways to build friendships beyond your club. There are over 100 Rotary Fellowships
Rotary Fellowships help participants make lasting friendships outside their own club, district, or country. If you have questions about Rotary Fellowships, please contact our Emmaus Rotarian Alicia Ruiz-Orbin. You will find her e-mail address and phone number in our Club Directory in clubrunner.
