Many thanks to the Rotarians who contributed to our monthly Plant-A-Row program. Tony Moyer and I estimate that roughly 110 pounds of produce was donated to the Sixth Street Shelter.
Here is a synopsis of the Sixth Street Shelter's mission:
The Sixth Street Shelter is a long-standing program of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley. Since 1984, the Shelter has been providing temporary housing for Lehigh Valley homeless families with children.
Today, the Sixth Street Shelter proudly offers 25 individual family apartments. It is the only shelter in the Valley to offer homeless families the privacy and security of a furnished apartment with a complete kitchen.
The philosophy of the Sixth Street Shelter, in keeping with the broader mission of the CACLV, encourages those it serves to accept responsibility for themselves.
