Rotarian Valerie Deneen talked to us last week about thinking about Rotary Solutions to attracting new members. We were reminded that 90% of new members are recruited by word of mouth and that we should think about the word triggers to use when talking to prospective members. The triggers should be repeatable, relevant, reasonable and remarkable. Examples were usefulness, generosity, empathy, speed and attitude. We finished by working at our tables to come up with ideas for us to use going forward and together we were able to brainstorm over 20 creative ways to help spread the word about Rotary.
